A brand-new, original musical celebrating a century of history at Albyn School will take centre stage at the Tivoli Theatre in Aberdeen this March.
‘A Hundred Years on Queen’s Road’ will be performed on 17 and 18 March, marking a significant milestone with a production created entirely in-house and never seen before.
Written especially for this occasion by staff at the school, ‘A Hundred Years on Queen’s Road’ takes audiences on a journey from 1925 to the present day, bringing the school’s story to life through music, storytelling and humour. The production promises a warm, engaging reflection on the past century, featuring untold stories and moments designed to entertain audiences of all ages.
The cast includes current pupils from P5 to S6, showcasing the breadth of young talent within the school community. The show also welcomes back former pupils and members of staff, who will join the cast to help tell the story — a unique intergenerational collaboration that adds depth and authenticity to the performance.
Alongside its original narrative, the musical is enriched with well-known songs from classic musical theatre productions including Matilda, Hairspray, Les Misérables and Fame, making it particularly appealing to musical theatre enthusiasts while remaining accessible to first-time theatre-goers.
Laura Sinclair, Faculty Head of Creative Arts at Albyn School, said: “This production is incredibly special for us. Writing an original musical that tells our own story has been a real labour of love, and bringing together current pupils with former pupils and staff makes it even more meaningful. Performing at the Tivoli Theatre is a wonderful opportunity for our young people, and we’re excited to share our history, creativity and sense of fun with the wider community.”
