A new business collaboration is being launched to bring together the North-east’s most entrepreneurial individuals. The Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management Entrepreneur Club will be launched at an exclusive event at The Marcliffe Hotel on September 26.

Members of the club will have access to a full range of business development support, alongside regular networking opportunities with entrepreneurs, mentors and investors designed to help grow their business.

Through events and workshops held throughout the year – and the chance for one-to-one financial planning advice – the club will foster creative forward-thinking and collaborations between the North-east’s most ambitious business people.

Those attending the launch next month will discover first-hand the benefits of membership and hear from some of the organisation’s most vocal proponents.

Speakers at the event will include Mark Wyllie, head of business Aberdeen at St. James’s Place Wealth Management, and Dr Tharaka Gunarathne, a clinical psychiatrist-turned-speaker and trainer for business who specialises in personal development, communication and inspirational leadership.

Since giving his first TEDx talk in 2016, Dr Tharaka has been an in-demand keynote speaker and trainer at a wide variety of business events, and at this month’s launch will give attendees an insight into a success mindset, providing mindset motivation and life hacks to help increase productivity and effectiveness.

He says, “The greatest battle for anyone in business is often within the mind. How and what we think affects everything we do: our decisions, and our ability to reach our full potential. The life of an entrepreneur is high demand, high pressure – as well as high fulfilment – so they need to do all they can to condition their mind to deal with the unpredictability of their world.

“The Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management Entrepreneur Club is here to equip, encourage and connect these entrepreneurs – ambitious, like-minded individuals in the north east of Scotland – and support them through their business journey.

“Although entrepreneurs are all individual and unique, at their core they have a lot in common – and they are stronger together, regardless of what stage they are at with their business. From those running businesses in their infancy through to those looking to exit, they all have to navigate a world of mental hurdles and develop resilient ways of thinking to survive and thrive in their business journey.”

Potential members at the launch will also be able to take advantage of a Q&A panel which will feature entrepreneurs at different stages of their business journey – including Iron Ocean Ltd’s Simon Lamont and retired director at ISS Ltd Bruce Webster – alongside club founder Gary Walker. The evening will be hosted by Ian Thain from LDF Group.

Gary Walker, director of Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management and senior partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, says, “Every day I come into contact with business people who are looking to push their companies into new and exciting directions, however until now there has been nowhere for them to meet other likeminded individuals with whom they can pool their resources and provide support.

“The Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management Entrepreneur Club will be a unique business community in the north east of Scotland – a place where a diverse range of talented individuals will come together to share ideas, do business with one another, and gain access to unparalleled business support tools and training which will help propel them to greatness."
