Mount St. Restaurant & Rooms opened on October 12. This modern London restaurant and collection of four beautifully designed spaces will bring together food and drink, craftsmanship and culture, alongside world-class contemporary art.
Artfarm, the company behind The Fife Arms in Braemar, Roth Bar & Grill in Somerset and recently opened The Audley Public House, has transformed this iconic building under the direction of Paris-based design and architecture studio Laplace, headed by Luis Laplace and Christophe Comoy. A long-time collaborator of Artfarm, and with a signature style that is both bold and timeless, Laplace has intuitively integrated architecture, art and design, working closely with both artists and artisans to allow their work to take centre stage.
As CEO Ewan Venters explains: “Mount St. Restaurant is all about the food, the story of Mayfair - and art. We want people to come away feeling they have experienced something special. But it is not just a restaurant, rather a place that gives back as well as providing pleasure. Art is at its heart, a place to inspire and delight.”
Luis Laplace continues: “The celebration of London, art and gastronomy are key to understanding the concept behind the Audley. Using the much-loved Zürich-based Kronenhalle as a reference, we set out to design a contemporary interpretation for Manuela and Iwan in London, which was both a challenge and a privilege. By collectively sharing our language and universe with the artists involved, we have created coherent spaces in which art and design flow naturally, avoiding the pitfalls of obsolete artistic or aesthetic statements.”
Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mount St. Restaurant’s menu is inspired by the capital’s culinary history, whilst also featuring some traditional, albeit updated London classics including Smoked Eel & Potato Salad and a Lobster Pie for 2. The result is a sophisticated, unfussy menu with one foot in the past and an eye very much on the present. Alongside an Oyster section, dishes include Mock Turtle Croquette, Caramelised Beetroot Tart & Goats Curd and Pigeons in Pimlico.
Working closely with farmers, growers and makers, to secure the freshest British produce from around the UK, including beef and lamb from Durslade, our farm in Somerset, Mount St. Restaurant is also delighted to support We are Grow, the agroecological farm and outdoor learning hub at The Totteridge Academy in north London.
Mount St. Restaurant is open 7 days a week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 8am to 10pm.
