After an incredible Homecoming Voyage, Friends of ANCHOR are now gearing up for the highlight of their entire anniversary year – the live auction of the anchors.
The date is set, the invites are out and the online auction is now live!
Over the summer months, 20 truly magnificent anchors were placed throughout the North-east of Scotland and captured the hearts and imagination of the public and the media. The auction of the anchors celebrates the work and commitment of the charity as well as the creativity and inspiration of the talented artists in one special evening.
The Anchor auction takes place at the Chester Hotel this Thursday, November 23 from 7pm. The public are invited to purchase tickets, which are priced at £20 each, from the 20for20 website (www.friendsofanchor20for20.org/auction) or at the door – all proceeds of which will help give one final push towards their goal of £1m for the Dream Big campaign.
Chairman of Friends of ANCHOR and managing director of Balmoral Group, Jim Milne, comments; “I am delighted to say that six anchors were secured by sponsoring companies before the Voyage officially kicked off in June. With the remaining 14 anchors available for auction, I would really encourage you to join us for this exclusive opportunity to secure a stunning anchor and piece of history from the iconic campaign and make your mark in our milestone 20th anniversary year.
“With your help I hope we’ll get another significant step closer to the £1m target by the end of 2017, within the charity’s 20th anniversary year.”
All the work that has gone into the 20for20 campaign over this year is to generate funds for their ‘Dream Big’ appeal: a target to raise £1m towards the University of Aberdeen’s ambitious goal of raising £4.5m to recruit and retain a world-class oncology research team here in our great city.
