On Friday 14th November, managing director for GSR Training, GSR Nursing and GSR Care at Home was awarded Inspirational Woman of the Year, sponsored by Sally Bryant of The Bia Partnership, at the BWC Athena Awards hosted at P&J Live.

Over 300 guests attended P&J Live for the 3rd annual BWC Athena Awards,  run by Karen Smith of Business Women Connect; the occasion was a brilliant way of celebrating the talent, creativity, resilience and leadership that Aberdeen’s women in business exemplify.

Going through the process of being nominated, shortlisted and making it to the finals was already an achievement for Managing Director, Christina Sutherland - but to win the prestigious award of the night, phenomenal!

Christina Sutherland  “I am still processing the fact that, out of the hundreds of remarkable women who were nominated, I not only reached the finals but have been named Inspirational Woman of the Year. It is an incredible honour and a powerful testament to the hard work, resilience and dedication shown not just by me, but by the exceptional teams I’ve had the privilege to lead over the past 12 years.

"Across my various businesses, I have always been driven by a passion for supporting others and creating meaningful impact. Whether it’s the 700,000+ hours of care and support we have delivered to vulnerable individuals, or the 250+ staff I employ - each of whom brings their own talent, commitment, and heart - my greatest motivation has always been people. Being able to offer employment, development opportunities, and a workplace where individuals feel valued is something I consider one of my proudest achievements.

"This award isn’t just a personal milestone; it reflects a collective journey. It recognises the countless hours my teams and I have invested in building services that change lives, empower communities, and show what can be achieved when purpose and passion come together.

"I hope this recognition inspires other women - whether they are at the beginning of their career or leading organisations of their own - to believe that they can make a difference, create opportunities, and challenge what’s possible. If my journey demonstrates anything, it’s that with determination, compassion and the right people around you, extraordinary things can happen.

"I am deeply grateful for this honour and for everyone who has supported me along the way. This award belongs to all of us.”
