AberNecessities, a local children’s charity, is delighted to confirm oil and natural gas company Apache Corporation, as its headline supporter for its biggest ever Christmas campaign – ‘No Child Should Go Without Believing in Magic’.

AberNecessities’ Christmas appeal will help the large number of local families experiencing extreme financial hardship during this ever-challenging time. The charity is hoping to deliver more than 2,500 Christmas gifts to children who would not otherwise enjoy a visit from Father Christmas. Apache has donated an incredible £27,000 to the Christmas appeal, which will allow the Aberdeen-based charity to give Christmas Eve boxes to 750 local children.

The boxes are lovingly filled with cosy pyjamas and socks, festive treats, Christmas activities and a storybook – as well as a treat for Rudolph.

The funds will also enable the charity to gift carefully curated, thoughtful presents for Christmas Day, making the festivities feel extra special. Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities said –“It is hard to put into words how truly grateful we are for Apache's support. On behalf of the babies, children and families we support we would like to extend our most sincere and heartfelt thanks. This donation will massively help us to deliver a magical Christmas to thousands of local children this year, giving them stories to share with friends and memories which will last a lifetime. Apache’s ethos and drive to support our community is hugely admirable and we thank them for their dedication to empowering families for a brighter future."

“Apache is committed to supporting our local communities and we are so pleased to be helping AberNecessities to put smiles on the faces of children living in Aberdeen and beyond this Christmas,” said Mairi Smith, Apache bond committee member. “Apache’s decision to donate to AberNecessities was made by our bond committee, which manages funds generated by the company’s workforce through sales of confectionary and other items on our offshore platforms.”

Since its inception in 2019, AberNecessities has supported over 8,000 local children, giving much-needed support to families in Aberdeen city and shire.
