Apollo has selected Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) as its charity partner, following a staff‑led nomination and voting process.
Mental health emerged as a strong theme during the internal vote, with many Apollo employees highlighting the importance of accessible, local support. The partnership will run for the next two years and will focus on fundraising, awareness and engagement.
SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity, delivering services and support across the country, including in the North‑east. A key focus locally is the launch of The Nook in Aberdeen this summer - a walk‑in mental health and wellbeing hub based in Marischal Square. The Nook will offer free, non‑clinical, stigma‑free support for adults, young people and families, seven days a week, without appointments or referrals.
Supporting mental health aligns closely with Apollo’s values as a people‑led engineering and advisory business, where wellbeing underpins both individual performance and long‑term sustainability.
Steve Leaper, Support Director, said: “Choosing SAMH was driven by our people. Mental health is something that matters deeply across our business and supporting SAMH’s work locally really resonated with our team.”
Chris Docherty from SAMH said: “Thank you to everyone at Apollo for choosing to support SAMH and for the opportunity to come in and speak with the team. It’s encouraging to see the commitment they have to mental health and we’re pleased to be working together over the next two years.”
As part of the early stages of the partnership, representatives from SAMH recently visited Apollo to speak with staff about the charity’s work and plans for the year ahead.
