Appointment of the new Head of Robert Gordon’s College Junior School

The Board of Governors of Robert Gordon’s College is pleased to announce that Mrs Sarah Webb is to be the new Head of Junior School when Mrs Mollie Mennie retires at the end of the 2016/17 school year.

Mrs Webb is currently seconded as an Attainment Advisor at Education Scotland, where she has been responsible for supporting and challenging Primary and Secondary schools in raising attainment and sharing best practice in Aberdeen and across Scotland.

Teaching for over 30 years throughout the UK, Mrs Webb brings over 14 years’ experience as a Nursery and Primary School Head Teacher. She is also an Associate Assessor with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education in Scotland (HMIE).

Mrs Webb said: “I am delighted to join Robert Gordon’s College as Head of the Junior School. I look forward to being part of the leadership team working with the pupils, staff, parents and governors in further developing the high quality learning experiences for all the children. As a parent of a former pupil, I know that the teaching and outstanding facilities across the College are first class and enable children to develop skills for learning and life.”

Congratulating Mrs Webb on her appointment, Professor Jimmy Hutchison, Chair of the Board of Governors commented: “Bringing a wealth of teaching and inspection experience to the school we are pleased to welcome Mrs Webb to the leadership team. This is a great opportunity for her to build on the sector-leading foundations of Junior School teaching and learning at Gordon’s.”

Thanking Mrs Mennie for her work over the last 14 years, Mr Simon Mills, Head of Robert Gordon’s College added: “Mrs Mennie, along with the Management team and staff in the Junior School, has played a central role in the success of the Junior School.

This progress has included leading the redevelopment of the Junior School to the successful inspection conducted by Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education in April 2016. During this time Mrs Mennie has developed a very high quality approach in all areas of school life, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning for all of the children in the Junior School. She leaves the Junior School in excellent shape with positive impacts for all of the pupils during this time.”

Mrs Webb will formally begin her new role on August 1 2017 and will be involved in a transition programme in the interim.
