Arch Henderson is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in the NCE Companies of the Year Awards 2020 for Impacts in Airports and Ports and Excellence in Concept Design and Planning.

The company has been involved in numerous prominent projects over the past year that have helped showcase its capabilities and be considered for these prestigious awards.

It designed a new Ro-Ro jetty in Dublin Port as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of Alexandra Basin. The jetty provides berthing for two new linkspans including all ancillaries to allow effective operation of the facility servicing some of the world’s largest short sea ferries between Dublin and continental Europe. Arch Henderson was responsible for fully developing all aspects of Dublin Port Companies initial design brief including, but not limited to, geotechnical design, mooring and berthing design, structural design, utility design and mechanical and electrical design.

The team has been involved in the Aberdeen Harbour expansion project as lead design consultant and project principal designer. The company has been instrumental in delivering the new port which will bring considerable socio-economic benefit to the local and national regions through increased trade, tourism and employment. The £350m development of a greenfield site into a state of the art harbour is a landmark civil engineering project for the region and the UK.

Arch Henderson was also commissioned by Lerwick Port to deliver Dales Voe South Quay Extension comprising extension of the existing quay by 75m providing a deck load-bearing capacity of 60 t/m2. The extended quay provides capacity to enable floating barge skid transfer of complete offshore topside modules up to 24,000t for decommissioning. This load handling capability coupled with the water depth alongside makes this one of the strongest and versatile quays in the UK.

In a comment the company said: "NCE recognises the most forward-thinking and innovative firms operating in civil engineering today so this is a fantastic achievement for Arch Henderson. We are so pleased to be recognised for our work and look forward to the NCE Awards 2020."
