An Aberdeen golf event that has brought together 100’s of international businesses and individuals has celebrated the 35th anniversary of its first outing.
The ATPI Golf Classic, organised by the Aberdeen branch of the travel management company, was first established in 1991, and now, 35 years later, has a very loyal following of legacy players and first-time attendees. Hosted at Meldrum House Country Hotel & Golf Course, now part of the Monogram Collective, this year’s edition welcomed 29 competing teams and nearly 180 attendees for the golf day and dinner.
Created and organised annually by Willie McPherson, ATPI’s Director of Business Development and Client Engagement, the event celebrates the connection between ATPI and its many partners, supporters, and clients across industries, while also providing an engaging networking opportunity for those in attendance.
With sponsors including Aberdeen International Airport, Callaway, Emirates Airlines, Qatar, Enterprise, Turkish Airlines, the event is a testament to the network of businesses in the north-east and the strength and importance of the region’s golfing community.
Speaking after the event, Willie commented: “35 years after the first, it’s such a privilege to still be hosting the ATPI Golf Classic. The event has become synonymous with ATPI in Aberdeen and has cemented itself as a staple in the local business community's calendar. The Golf Classic has helped establish personal friendships and professional partnerships that have lasted over three and a half decades now.
Every year, the event is only possible because of the support from my ATPI colleagues in Aberdeen, our partners, and the immense number of sponsors who help put the day together. We are incredibly lucky to be working in an industry and a region with a proud network of businesses that prioritise in-person events and opportunities to meet up, continue connecting, and support one another’s success.
This year also hit a new milestone, with +3 handicap golfer Anthony Bews of Claxton Engineering winning the event after shooting an incredible 64 on the day. His champion status meant he won his way to play in the Scottish Open Pro-Am at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick”.
The 2027 planning is well underway and already sponsors are committing to support this great event again.
