Augean, a leading waste management provider to the oil and gas sector, has appointed Tony Furniss as its business development manager, based in Aberdeen.
As well as the oil and gas market, in his new role Tony will build and implement strategies into related markets including decommissioning and renewables.
Augean has seen considerable growth over recent years including the acquisition of Future Industrial Services in 2023, expanding its capabilities in waste management, industrial cleaning, decommissioning, and radioactive waste services (including NORM decontamination) throughout the UK.
Tony has been working within the oil and gas sector for over 30 years, starting in tubulars and progressing via expandable liners, wellheads, trees and connectors plus cementing tools and speciality chemicals to arrive at deep sector knowledge across the oilfield in both the UK and overseas.
Bryan Emslie, Contracts Director, said: "Although already well-known within the Drilling and P&A arenas, Augean were looking for a business development professional to lead our expansion plans in the Subsea Decom & Renewables sectors and Tony’s background & experience makes him an excellent addition to our business. We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to enhancing our presence in these markets. "
Tony added: “I am excited to join Augean during what is a pivotal stage in the offshore industry. With a reduction in drilling in recent years, the decommissioning of North Sea assets offers an excellent opportunity for growth, building on Augean’s previous experience and excellent reputation within the sector.
"I am excited to work with Bryan and the wider team at Augean, collaborating with key partners and building on the success of recent years whilst also looking to grow the business into alternative markets”
