Bancon Group has raised £12,400 for two Scottish charities at its third annual Charity Golf Day, bringing together 84 golfers across 21 teams and eight sponsors for a day of competition and fundraising at Newmacher Golf Club on Friday July 3.
The funds raised will be split between The Forget Me Not Club, which supports individuals and families affected by dementia, and Camphill Blair Drummond, which provides a nurturing home, meaningful activities and opportunities for personal development for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
The Golf Day has become a fixture in Bancon Group’s charitable calendar, raising more than £30,000 since its launch three years ago.
This year, Bancon Group was joined by Greig Laidlaw, one of Scotland's most accomplished rugby union scrum-halves with over 70 caps and a former captain, for its 'Beat the Pro' competition, with players having the chance to try to best his drive

“The current financial climate is a challenging one in the third sector, and as a charity that is wholly dependent on donations and fundraising, we have seen a significant drop in our income from events and donations from private individuals. This means that we simply couldn't continue to offer the life-changing support that so many people from our community rely upon without the friendship and generosity of local businesses, so this gift from Bancon Group, raised at their recent charity golf day, comes at a very welcome time.”

The day was competitive, with first-place going to WM Donald who won the ‘Claret Jug’, and second place going to Dundee Plant.
The event was made possible by eight sponsors who include Advance Construction Scotland, EIS Waste Services, General & Technical Flooring, RG Electrical, Burness Paull LLP, Pitkerro Plumbing & Heating, Huws Gray and Compass Print Group.
Bancon also thanked all those who generously donated an auction and raffle prize, and the whole team at Newmacher Golf Club for hosting the event.
After the game, the players enjoyed lunch at the clubhouse, followed by prize giving, a charity raffle and an auction.
The Golf Day is one of a number of ways Bancon Group invests in the communities in which it works. Last year, as part of Bancon Group's 50th anniversary celebrations, the company selected one charity from each of the areas in which the group operates, and raised funds through a range of fundraising activities throughout the year including a Lairig Ghru trek, quiz night, Christmas Jumper Day, themed bake sales and 10K challenges.

The business celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025 and most recently won two national awards, including Social Housing Development of the Year at the Scottish Home Awards 2026, and the Culture Transformation Project of the Year at the cHeRries Awards, for its 18-month programme to strengthen workforce engagement and culture across its construction, housebuilding and timber frame operations.
