Aberdeen-based children’s charity Befriend a Child has announced the promotion of Jenna Simpson to Head of Fundraising and Marketing.
Jenna brings almost 20 years’ professional experience across the charity and community sectors, with a strong track record in fundraising, corporate partnerships and leadership. She has previously worked with organisations including Charlie House and Transition Extreme, as well as Befriend a Child.
In her new role, Jenna will lead Befriend a Child’s fundraising and marketing activity, building on existing relationships with supporters, businesses and the wider community while developing new opportunities to grow the charity’s income and profile. Her role will be central to helping the charity reach more children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Jenna said: “I’m so excited to be taking on this role at Befriend a Child. I’m very passionate about what we do and have seen first-hand the life-changing difference we can make for children and young people. I’m really looking forward to working with our supporters and wider community to bring people together, reach even more children and help them have the opportunities and experiences every child deserves.”

Jenna will officially take up the role of Head of Fundraising and Marketing on 23rd September 2026.
Befriend a Child supports children and young people growing up in difficult life circumstances across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The charity provides consistent 1:1 befriending and mentoring relationships, alongside a dedicated Family Support Project and three community youth clubs, helping children and young people build confidence, resilience and brighter futures.
Fundraising plays a vital role in making this support possible, helping Befriend a Child provide and develop its core services for children, young people and families who need them. Through building strong relationships with supporters, businesses and community partners, the charity works to secure the vital funds needed to continue its work and reach more children across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
