Befriend a Child is delighted to announce that its recent Boogie Boozy Brunch weekend has raised a fantastic £50,376.25 to support its vital work with local children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Hosted across two unforgettable days at The Marcliffe Hotel, the 70s boogie themed events welcomed over 450 supporters, transforming the venue into a vibrant, feel-good boogie wonderland. Guests came together in true disco spirit, all united to make a difference for children growing up in challenging life circumstances.
From the moment guests stepped through the doors, the energy was electric. With show-stopping décor from Thoughts and Crosses and Candy Corner Scotland, the scene was set for a weekend to remember. The fabulous Boogie master Kevin Littlejohn kept the party in full swing alongside the incredible team at Right Here Productions, while STV’s Greigsy brought the beats to life on the decks. With seamless audio-visual production from AXV, endless fun at the 360 Photobooth, funky moments captured by Sandie Ritchie Photography and the Marcliffe’s signature hospitality, every detail combined to create an atmosphere that was nothing short of spectacular.
But beyond the glitter, glamour and dancefloor moments, the true impact of the weekend lies in what it achieved. Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting the children and young people at Befriend a Child who face significant challenges including abuse, neglect, bereavement, parental substance misuse and social isolation.
Morgan Dunn, Senior Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator at Befriend a Child, said: “We are absolutely blown away by the generosity, energy and pure joy that filled the room across both days. To raise over £50,000 in one weekend is simply incredible, and it will make a lasting difference to so many local children who rely on our support. The atmosphere was incredible from start to finish, our guests truly brought the party, embraced the theme, and made it a weekend we’ll never forget.”
The charity extends its heartfelt thanks to its incredible sponsors, The Orthodontic Clinic (Friday Gold Sponsor), Houz Of Aesthetics (Saturday Gold Sponsor), and DeepOcean (Saturday Silver Sponsor) whose support helped bring the event to life.
A huge and sincere thank you also goes to every single guest who attended. Their energy, enthusiasm, generosity and dazzling boogie style made the weekend what it was. Whether they were dancing, bidding, donating or simply soaking up the atmosphere, they played a huge part in creating something truly special.
Special recognition also goes to the dedicated team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their positivity, commitment and sparkle helped deliver an exceptional experience for all.
Morgan continued: “It was a true celebration. Seeing so many people come together, bringing such amazing energy while supporting a cause that means so much, was incredibly special. The support across the weekend was just amazing, and there was such a genuine sense of joy in the room. Knowing the difference this will make to the children and young people we support makes it even more special.”
