International industrial services provider Bilfinger has partnered with Food For Fitness to provide its UK offshore workforce with access to the Food For Fitness app, offering practical nutrition support around healthy weight management, recovery and everyday eating.
The initiative comes as the offshore industry prepares for the introduction of the new helicopter passenger weight limit, with Bilfinger looking to give employees additional support to make positive, sustainable changes to their diet and lifestyle.
Food For Fitness, founded by Aberdeenshire nutritionist and Sunday Times bestselling cookbook author Scott Baptie, focuses on simple, high-protein meals made with familiar ingredients.
The emphasis is on meals employees can make at home and enjoy with the whole family, rather than restrictive diets or having to prepare separate “healthy” meals.
High-protein meals can also be particularly useful for those working in physically demanding offshore roles, helping to support muscle recovery while providing filling, balanced meals.
The partnership provides employees with practical nutrition support and resources to help them make informed choices about their health and wellbeing, including healthy weight management.
Laura Hardie, Engagement and Wellbeing Manager at Bilfinger, said: “Supporting the health and wellbeing of our workforce is incredibly important to us.
"Through our partnership with Food For Fitness, our employees can access practical nutrition advice and resources to help build healthier, sustainable habits.
"As the industry prepares for changes to offshore passenger weight guidance, we want to ensure our people feel supported every step of the way.”
Scott Baptie, founder of Food For Fitness, said: “It’s fantastic to see Bilfinger taking a proactive approach and giving their offshore workforce access to practical nutrition support. The new offshore weight guidance has created a real need for employers to think about how they can actually help their people, rather than simply making them aware of the change.
“The Food For Fitness app is designed to make healthier eating easier in the real world. It gives employees simple, high-protein meals that can support healthy weight management and recovery from physically demanding work, while still being the kind of food they can sit down and enjoy with the whole family.”
The Food For Fitness app has been downloaded more than 140,000 times and holds a 4.9-star App Store rating.
