Bon Accord Care’s Fergus House has achieved outstanding results in their latest Care Inspectorate report.
Fergus House, is a Bon Accord Care, Care Home based in Dyce, Aberdeen, for over 40 older people, with space for respite also available.
This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire team at Fergus House, who provide high quality care and support to their residents; making a difference every day.
During the recent unannounced visit the Care Inspectorate praised the Bon Accord Care Home for not only its quality of care but also the quality of its staff team.
The Fergus House Care Inspectorate visit focused on “How well does Fergus House support people’s wellbeing?” and “How good is Fergus House's staff team?”. In both categories Fergus House received high scores of “5-Very Good”.
In preparation for the inspection the Care Inspectorate also made its evaluations of Fergus House by speaking with people using the service, families, staff and management, observing practice and daily life, as well as reviewing documents.
The final report demonstrates the excellent qualities of Fergus house, with one family member within the report stating: “The care here is exceptional. The staff go above and beyond.”

The key take aways from the report were that Fergus House is a warm and welcoming home where people are enjoying their lives, staff work well together, people and their families praise the high quality of the care and support and that the staff were aware of any changes in people’s needs, which improved the overall quality of care.
Overall, the feedback from the Fergus House report is an excellent demonstration of Bon Accord Care’s values in practice. The Bon Accord Care RITA values stand for Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Accountability. With Fergus House demonstrating all of these values within their provision of the service.
Jemma Critchley, the care home manager, emphasised the importance of adhering to the BAC RITA Principles in maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace. She stated: "It is crucial that all staff understand the impact of their actions and uphold the RITA Principles to ensure a supportive and respectful environment for both colleagues and residents. This achievement is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Fergus House, who embody the principles of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Accountability in their daily work."
