A new digital alarm system that has recently been introduced to help keep vulnerable citizens safe in their homes, has been recognised nationally.

The new digital alarm system, introduced to Aberdeen City has awarded the Gold Award Level 2 for Digital Telecare Implementation from the Scottish Government’s Digital Office for the successful rollout of The Shared Alarm Receiving Centre (Shared ARC) Platform, and for the installation of over 2,000 digital community alarms.

Bon Accord Care’s Telecare team has been an integral part of this digital project along with key partners Aberdeen City Council and the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership, as well as the health and social care partnerships in Aberdeenshire and Moray.

These partner organisations have worked to advance the North East’s integration in to the Shared ARC platform, jointly developed by the Digital Office for Scottish Local Government and Scottish Excel.

The platform will enable over 13,000 telecare users across the North-east of Scotland to safely switch from analogue to digital landlines, enhancing reliability, responsiveness, and the overall quality of care. This shift ensures that citizens continue to receive life-saving support with greater efficiency and resilience.

Bon Accord Care and Aberdeen City Council’s Emergency Response Team will continue to provide essential life and limb services, which include telecare, alarm monitoring and emergency out of hours services. The team provide a 24 hour a day service, seven days a week.

Karen Allan, telecare assistant manager said: “We are very proud of reaching this final phase of the digital transition, after many years of researching, planning and testing of equipment and working with our partners in Aberdeen City Council. Our Telecare team have worked together to ensure going live with the rollout of the shared ARC has been successful.  Our dedicated telecare engineers, senior technicians and technicians have worked very hard to ensure our service users are safely migrated to the new platform with minimal impact.”
