Bon Accord has announced that The ARCHIE Foundation will be its new charity partner, following a successful partnership with CLAN Cancer Support, raising a total of £200,000 over the last three years. Going forward, funds raised by the centre will be donated to the North-east’s children’s charity.

ARCHIE supports sick children and their families across the North-east, and funds raised at Bon Accord will be used to support the many initiatives running, as well as aid in the charity’s research.

With the new partnership, Tempo, the popular pay for your time space will temporarily close from January 11, to undergo a refresh to further enhance its offering to visitors. The new look Tempo will reopen mid-February and all profits will go to the local charity ARCHIE.

Tempo has proved very popular since opening in November last year, with over 60,000 people visiting to meet with friends and enjoy the innovative concept of the food/drink offer.

As well as Tempo, ARCHIE will benefit from the many activities that Bon Accord hosts during the year to raise money, including the successful Big Bounce event and Santa’s Grotto.

Bon Accord centre manager, Craig Stevenson, said: “The past three years supporting CLAN have been fantastic – the team have been amazing to work with and what an achievement, to raise so much, in such a short space of time for a cause close to the hearts of many in the city.

“There are so many great charities across the area and we are looking forward to joining forces and partnering with ARCHIE.”

Cassie Thompson, director of Fundraising at ARCHIE, said: “We are very excited to have been chosen as Bon Accord’s new charity partner and we look forward to working with them on a number of fundraising projects throughout the year.

“The money raised from this partnership will help us support sick children and their families across Grampian allowing us to fund specialist equipment and staff, as well as providing emergency grants to families in need.”

Dr Colette Backwell, CLAN Cancer support chief executive said: “CLAN has benefitted greatly from being the charitable partner of Bon Accord for the past three years and we are grateful to everyone who has supported us during that time.

“This support has been invaluable in raising funds, increasing the profile and awareness of the cancer support services CLAN provides via bases in north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, as well as in the development of the skills and expertise within our teams. The relationship presented us with many opportunities, including the development of Tempo which offered a completely new project for CLAN. We will use these experiences in our new ventures from 2018 onwards as we continue to raise funds to support people affected by cancer in the north east.

“We cannot thank the BAC team enough for their support since 2014 and very much look forward to working with them again in the future.”
