SugarBird Wines has launched a city-wide wine trail to mark Beaujolais Nouveau Day, bringing a global tradition to Aberdeen and uniting the city’s thriving wine scene.

At one minute past midnight on 19th November, over a million cases of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau vintage will begin a global journey, travelling more than 1,000 miles from France to Aberdeen to be enjoyed throughout SugarBird’s ‘Bonjour Beaujolais Nouveau’ wine trail that same evening.

Following a self-guided map, wine trail participants will explore some of the city’s favourite wine spots at their own pace, enjoying different Beaujolais Nouveau at each stop. Alongside SugarBird Union Grove and SugarBird in the Gardens, the wine trail will feature Monty’s Wine Bar & Shop, Grape & Grain, and The Wichery by Figment.

Commenting on the launch, SugarBird Wines Events Manager, Kitty Mckean, said: “Every year, I love watching the Beaujolais Nouveau festivities unfold in France; there’s such a buzz with fireworks, parties and the five-day Les Sarmentelles Festival. What began as a regional celebration has become a calendar highlight worldwide, and Swansea has taken over my social media feed in the last few years! I knew Aberdeen could match that energy if our venues came together to deliver a standout experience.”

Adding to this, Sales, Marketing & Creative Director, Ruth Grahame, said: “Beaujolais Nouveau Day is one of my favourite wine traditions. It’s a culmination of community, collaboration and delicious wine. We’re so pleased to be working with some of Aberdeen’s best wine spots to raise a glass to the 2026 vintage and deliver a new style of event to the city!”

Bonjour Beaujolais Nouveau will begin at SugarBird Union Grove at 6pm on Thursday, 19th November 2026. Tickets can be purchased on the SugarBird Wines website.
