Scottish craft brewer, BrewDog, by Tilray Brands, Inc. will reopen its Inverurie bar on Saturday June 27.
BrewDog Inverurie, located at 16 Market Place, has been reimagined as a community-first venue that gives local residents and community groups a formal voice in how it is run. Local businesses and community leaders have been invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony from 6.30pm on Friday 26th June, to mark the reopening.
While BrewDog will own and operate the bar on a day-to-day basis, in a first-of-its-kind a new ‘Community Champions’ model is being established, drawn from local residents, OG Punks, and local organisations, that will help shape events, programming, and help decide how the venue can support community initiatives. BrewDog intends to pilot this new model at Inverurie, before expanding in other bars in the UK.
The Community Champions model will initially operate on trial basis for up to a year from the reopening of BrewDog Inverurie to learn the right long-term balance between BrewDog-led operations and community-led engagement.
The reopening follows an extraordinary show of local support. Since the bar’s closure, Inverurie residents proactively organised and submitted a formal proposal to BrewDog to bring the bar back. Inverurie has long been one of the most engaged BrewDog communities anywhere in the UK.
Saturday’s reopening celebration will run from 12pm through to close, with live music and entertainment throughout the day. In recognition of the community that fought to bring the bar back, the first 100 people through the door will get a sample pint of a BrewDog headliner beer or new release on the house - on a first come, first served basis.
Lauren Carrol, Chief Commercial Officer, BrewDog, said: “Inverurie did something remarkable , the community came to us. They put together a proposal and showed us what this bar means to them, so we listened and put a plan in place to reopen. The people of Inverurie have always been a special part of our story, so it is only right that they now help shape what happens inside their local bar. This is the beginning of a model we hope to grow.”
BrewDog recently announced the U.K. launch of 24 Tilray-owned American craft beers, bringing some of the most iconic and recognizable U.S. craft beers brands to BrewDog bars, which have also recently seen a new food & drink menu rolled out, spanning new signature burgers, an expanded plant-based range, upgraded sides, a refreshed Melts & Subs selection and a completely new spirits line-up.
