Craft beer giant BrewDog is to cease production of spirits at its Aberdeenshire distillery.
Almost a decade after launching in 2017, BrewDog Distilling Co, which produced Lonewolf Gin, Abstrakt Vodka, Duo Rum, Casa Rayos Tequila and Ron Bodega.
Chief executive James Taylor told staff in an internal email seen by The Press and Journal that “it wasn’t a decision taken lightly”.
A spokesperson for BrewDog told the P&J the distilling team will “manage a smooth wind-down, including the run-off of remaining stock and honouring all existing supply commitments”.
The staff memo from James said BrewDog would focus on "areas where we can truly win", adding: “That means putting our energy and investment behind our beer brands and Wonderland, where we see significant growth potential."
The news comes just over two months after BrewDog Distilling Co announced a partnership with Aberdeen Football Club to become its official gin and vodka partner.
