St Margaret’s Braemar plays host to two exciting concerts next weekend, bookending the world-famous Braemar Gathering which takes place on Saturday September 5.
Charlie Mckerron and Friends will raise the curtain on a weekend of Scottish tradition, performing at the annual Pre Gathering Concert from 7.30pm on Friday 4th September.
The Capercaillie and Session A fiddle player, will be joined by a virtuoso band of traditional music legends Marc Clement and Ross Ainslie – as well as rising star and Charlie's son Cailean McKerron – for a multi-instrumental showcase of the best of contemporary Scottish folk music.

Sunday 6th September sees internationally acclaimed and favourite composer of the Royal Family Paul Mealor return to St Margaret’s with his hand-picked Caritas Choir for a spectacular afternoon performance.
The concert will feature very special guest Bryn Terfel, one of the world’s most distinguished bass-baritones who has performed regularly on the most prestigious concert stages and in opera houses across the globe.
Terfel performed Paul Mealor’s specially composed Kyrie Eleison at King Charles III’s coronation in 2023,the first Welsh language work sung at a UK coronation.
The Sunday concert is sold out, with a waiting list in place for any ticket returns.

“Charlie McKerron and Friends will raise the curtain on Friday night with some incredible entertainment – celebrating the best of Scottish trad and roots music, with modern interpretation, new composition and trademark virtuoso flair.
“Sunday sees the return of Paul Mealor’s fabulous Caritas Choir, joined this year by the magnificent Bryn Terfel for a performance which is not to be missed.
“Bryn has performed on some of the most famous stages in the world, to a global audience of almost two billion at King Charles’ coronation and a lucky handful of people will now have the chance to hear his thunderous bass-baritone voice in concert in Braemar.”
