Burns Extravaganza

Aberdeen-based Granite PR has teamed up with Aberdeenshire-based event management company Business Plus Scotland to stage the second annual Granite Burns Supper at the city’s DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops.

Once again, the event looks set to be one of the largest of its kind in the North-east and promises to be a night to remember thanks to the addition of new features including a fundraising games and activities area, and a ceilidh with The Dodgy Bongo Ceilidh Band.

The evening will raise money for Flying Start, the global charity partnership between British Airways and Comic Relief, and Inspire which provides a range of services for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs in a variety of settings in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus.

The Granite Burns Supper will also feature speeches, a mouth-watering meal, charity auction, networking opportunities, and a clothing exhibition from The Fountain Scotland’s Tartan Touch range. In addition will be a variety of entertainment compered by Steven J. Innes including a piper, dancers from Banchory’s Coutts School of Highland Dancing and fiddlers Bridge the Gap and Stuart Davidson.

Commenting on plans for the event Phyllis Stuart, British Airways manager at Aberdeen Airport, said: “British Airways is delighted that the Granite City Burns Supper will again help raise funds for our Flying Start charity initiative in support of Comic Relief.

“Last year's inaugural Granite City Burns Supper was a huge success, helping to raise a significant sum for Flying Start. Flying Start's aim to raise £20m for Comic Relief by 2020 has been so successful that it reached its target in 2018, two years early.”

Inspire Development Manager (Communities & Communication) Andrew Reid added: “The opportunity to participate in this event is a great addition to our busy 30th anniversary year.

“We look forward to a fun night, and to putting our share of what is raised to very good use in supporting more than 300 adults through a range of initiatives.”
