A 12-year-old Aberdeen boy with a passion for buses was given a special behind-the-scenes experience at Stagecoach’s Aberdeen bus station and depot.
Chay Cowie, who attends The Wing at Bucksburn Academy, was invited to take a closer look at how buses operate and get a taste of what goes on behind the scenes.
A keen Stagecoach enthusiast, Chay has developed a fascination with buses that extends well beyond simply travelling on them.
His dad, George Cowie, said: “His love of buses came after a fascination with aircraft and trucks. However, Stagecoach buses are his real passion.
“He has photos on his room walls and has made paper models of the buses. He’s made a Lego garage to park the buses and uses Lego figures to be the bus marshals.
“Chay has also made animated videos himself on TikTok and has made himself a den at the back of our house where he can watch the buses at the Bucksburn McDonald’s roundabout.”
The visit proved a big hit with Chay, who was keen to tell his teacher all about his experience when he returned to school.
George added: “He’s a boy of few words due to his condition but he told his teacher about it as soon as I dropped him off at school.
“He couldn’t wait to show his mum his bag of gifts. Thank you Stagecoach; it’s really appreciated.”
The visit provided an opportunity for Chay to enjoy his passion for buses while seeing a side of the operation that passengers do not normally get to experience.
