Broad street shared space
The JET service 727 has bucked all national trends in bus patronage growing from strength to strength since it was introduced in 2010. Local bus operator, Stagecoach, has announced they will be introducing even more journeys to the timetable on the frequent service in Aberdeen city.
From Monday, July 8 the timetable will be enhanced to offer journeys around the clock between Aberdeen city centre and Aberdeen Airport. The service will be extended to operate every hour from 10.30pm until 3.30am and the daytime frequency of every 10 minutes will remain the same. The additional journeys will be welcome news to shift workers in Aberdeen as well as a safe and affordable option for those requiring a late night service home from the city centre to Great Northern Road or Bucksburn.
In 2017 the service was recognised at the Scottish Transport Awards picking up the award for the Best Bus Service in Scotland recognising the sustained operational excellence of the reliability of the service as well as passenger growth and a vehicle investment of £1.7m. The service is operated by a fleet of luxury double deck buses fully kitted out with contactless payment facilities, luggage racks, USB charging and free wi-fi.
