A by-election is to be held for the Midstocket/Rosemount ward in Aberdeen City Council following the sad death of Councillor Bill Cormie.
Councillor Cormie served the people of Midstocket/Rosemount with dedication and commitment for 19 years, and the Council extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all those who knew and worked with him.
When an elected member vacancy occurs, an election must be held within three months to fill the vacancy. The Returning Officer has set the date of the Midstocket/Rosemount by-election as 8 October 2026.
There are 45 elected members (councillors) which represent 13 wards (areas) across Aberdeen.
The Notice of Election will be published on Monday 31 August 2026 and nomination papers can be delivered on each working day between the hours of 10am and 4pm from Tuesday 1 September 2026 until Monday 7 September 2026. The deadline for delivery of nominations will be 4pm on Monday 7 September 2026.
