Cairngorm Bothies, a cosy and eco-friendly self-catering spot nestled in rural Aberdeenshire, is absolutely thrilled to share its inclusion in Wanderlust Magazine’s global Top 50 Travel Green List.

This wonderful recognition is a great accolade to their dedication to sustainable tourism and making a gentle footprint on their beautiful surroundings.

This lovely news arrives just as the UK celebrates Great Big Green Week, making it the perfect moment to shine a light on their ongoing passion for conservation and low impact living. Cairngorm Bothies is also incredibly proud to have recently received a Gold Green Tourism Award, which really highlights their commitment to looking after the environment in the Cairngorm National Park.

A recent short film produced on-site by business owner Dr. Gordon Drummond showcases the sensitive little damselflies that thrive in healthy wetland habitats, and its presence at both the Cairngorm Bothies and the Cairngorm Lodges truly reflects the continued success of the staffs' efforts to protect the local biodiversity.

Gordon said: “The damselfly is a remarkable indicator species - small, delicate, and deeply tied to the health of its environment. Seeing the damselflies and dragonflies dart around our accommodations are signs that our efforts to protect this special place are making a real difference. It reinforces our commitment to providing a place where guests can connect with nature while minimising their impact.”
