Call for immediate wage support

Along with our colleagues across the UK and Scottish Chambers network, we are listening to the very real challenges facing our members.

During these unprecedented times your Chamber continues to represent your views directly to Government.
Whilst we broadly welcome the financial measures announced to date, they simply aren’t sufficient nor flowing quickly enough to protect livelihoods and sustain viable businesses.
To prevent economic collapse we are calling for a three month waiver of all payroll taxes and VAT bills coupled with a direct employment subsidy of at least £10,000 per job for all SMEs regardless of sector and for larger companies in key sectors. This is our minimum ask.
We have made representations to the Chancellor of the Exchequer via Adam Marshall, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, and would urge you to forward this message to your elected representatives using social media channels.
