After some planning and organising, Union Street’s Cancer Research has successfully set up a children’s section in its store, consisting of clothing, toys and a three for £2 offer on all children’s books.
Daisy McCran explains how this idea came about: “We are always thinking of innovative ways to earn more funds for cancer research.
"One we have been playing around with for some time was to install a children’s 'corner' in our shop to attract a new customer base of little ones and their families and carers.
"I know myself how expensive things are now, without having a family to also take care of."
The shop is also calling out for donations so that the children’s department can keep running. Anything from winter warmers to Where’s Wally is welcome, and eligible donors are encouraged to register in-store to Cancer Research’s Gift Aid scheme where the charity can claim back an essential 25% from the HMRC.
Queries are welcomed in-store or on 01224 590 580.
