A cancer support charity is hosting a pop-up event at a large retailer in Aberdeen as part of a centenary campaign.
CLAN Cancer Support staff and volunteers will be at Tesco Westhill on Friday, September 6, 2019 to tell customers about the services it offers in the north-east of Scotland.
The awareness event is part of Tesco’s Bags of Help Centenary Grant Initiative. The supermarket is delivering a special voting round of its community fundraisings scheme, with CLAN hoping to be awarded the coveted £25,000 prize for its community work.
Tesco customers have been asked by the charity to vote with their tokens for CLAN to help continue its work supporting people who are affected by a cancer diagnosis.
CLAN head of cancer support services Iona Mitchell said: “We are looking forward to meeting local people at Tesco in Westhill to explain the different ways in which CLAN supports people in the north-east.
“As well as supporting those who have a cancer diagnosis, we support friends and families, including children and grandchildren where appropriate, working to help reduce anxiety and help people come to terms with the effects of a serious illness.
“CLAN services are completely free and we rely entirely upon donations from our local communities and businesses, so we are delighted to be part of Tesco’s centenary initiative.”
