Celebrate Aberdeen teams up with Spree Aberdeen to boost third sector fundraising

Organisers of Celebrate Aberdeen have joined forces with Spree Aberdeen to help third sector organisations across the city raise valuable funds.

The team at Spree Aberdeen has agreed to allow third sector organisations which are signed up with Celebrate Aberdeen to sell its existing 2017/18 Spree Book at half price of £10.

A total of £5 from each book will be donated to the organisations, social enterprises and voluntary groups for each book they sell.

Spree books are available to them on a sale or return basis, so whatever each group sells, their fundraising cause keeps the donation.

More than £5,000 worth of local offers are available in the current Aberdeen Spree Book which is valid from purchase until Monday, 1 October 2018.

Morven Mackenzie, founder of Celebrate Aberdeen, said: “We are absolutely delighted to work with Spree Aberdeen again this year on this fantastic offering.

“With so many local offers available within the Spree Book this is a great opportunity for all of the third sector groups and organisations to raise valuable funds.”

David Wood, managing director of Spree Media Group, said: “We are so pleased to partner up with Celebrate Aberdeen to support local third sector community groups to raise much needed funds as we have done over the last 18 years.

“Offering local savings to our local community in return for their donation is part of our fantastic community alliance programme.

“The sale of the Spree Aberdeen books will help each participating organisation to increase their income and also allows people to support good causes across the city, while making savings at their favourite restaurants, bars and shops at the same time.”

More than 150 organisations from across the city have signed up to what will be the largest Celebrate Aberdeen parade along Union Street this year.

As well as local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups, musicians and city sports groups will take part in the event which will be held on Saturday, August 25.

The parade was first held in 2011 and has brought together more than 3,500 people from 130 diverse third sector organisations for each event in recent years.

Earlier this year, the inaugural Celebrate Aberdeen Awards were announced to shine the spotlight on the city’s charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups, and the individuals who work for and support them.

The awards event, will take place at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (AECC) on Saturday, September 8, and is expected to play host to more than 400 guests from across Aberdeen’s third sector and local business community.
