Aberdeen’s leading video production agency, Signal, recently completed a series of inspiring marketing films for Aberdeen City Council showcasing the Union Street CARS (Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme).

This ambitious initiative has breathed new life into some of Aberdeen’s most historic buildings across the city centre. By offering grants for repairs, supporting the reuse of heritage buildings, and promoting traditional building skills, the CARS scheme is helping protect Aberdeen’s architectural identity for future generations.

Like every Signal video production, these films were built on careful planning and thoughtful storytelling. The film crew carried out in-depth interviews with multiple contributors across several locations, capturing footage of the buildings that benefited from the scheme.

Shooting on Aberdeen’s most famous street came with its own set of challenges. From unpredictable Scottish weather to the constant flow of pedestrians, cyclists, and traffic, every shot required precision and adaptability.

For aerial footage, they scheduled 4k drone filming early in the morning, capturing stunning views of Union Street while the city was still relatively quiet. These shots became a powerful way to highlight the character and charm of Aberdeen’s historic centre, and the sheer scale of CARS.

Signal are proud to support local businesses, initiatives, and working with Aberdeen City Council in conserving the city’s heritage and supporting the local economy.
