Over 200 guests gathered on 18 June for the inaugural Developing the Young Workforce North East (DYWNE) Connect Awards 2026 at Ardoe House Hotel hosted by Davy Shanks, a landmark event celebrating the people and partnerships shaping the future workforce across the North-east of Scotland.

The awards recognised outstanding individuals, educators, and employers who are making a significant impact in supporting young people on their journey into the world of work.

Centred around the theme “Learn, Celebrate, Collaborate”, the event brought together partners from across education, industry, and the wider community. The programme featured engaging panel discussions led by Aberdeen Young Professionals featuring Adam Joji, Alana Condron, Danielle Dyce, Jack Slessor and Katie Watson and the Apprenticeship Panel featuring Emma McGowan, Kirsten Black and Theo Strachan, alongside an inspiring keynote address from Caroline Laurenson.

Guests were also treated to a vibrant programme of entertainment, including performances from Inverurie Academy, and harp recitals from pupils at Gilcomstoun Primary School, Meldrum Academy, and Hazlehead Academy. The day included a networking lunch, creating opportunities for meaningful connections, followed by a celebratory awards ceremony recognising excellence across the region.

A special thank you goes to event partner Skills Development Scotland, silver sponsor AXV Audio Visual, and category sponsors Motive Offshore Group Ltd, Balfour Beatty plc, AnythingHR, and Legends Global at P&J Live. Appreciation is also extended to supporting organisations Mackie’s of Scotland, Odfjell Technology, Flexistore Ltd, and Harbour Energy for their valued contribution.
