Aberdeen City Libraries are inviting members of the public to comment on its proposal to change the opening hours of some community libraries in Aberdeen.

It follows a review by the City Council's Library and Information Service of all 16 Community Libraries in 2014. The consultation with library users revealed that opening hours should be adjusted to better reflect community needs.

As a result the opening times at 13 community libraries could change with an overall increase in opening hours of 36 hours per week. Libraries will either maintain or increase their total number of opening hours per week.

Opening times at Kincorth, Mastrick and Bridge of Don libraries will remain the same.

Aberdeen City Council's Convener of Education and Children's Services Committee Councillor Angela Taylor said: "We want residents to utilise the many services on offer at their local libraries and it is clear from the review that library opening times are a factor for some people. I would encourage residents to make their views known of the new times so we can ensure community libraries best serve the people using them."

The proposals are available at all Community Libraries and library users are invited to provide feedback on the proposed new opening times at their local library in person, or by e-mail to CentralLibrary@aberdeencity.gov.uk before Friday 30 October 2015.

The new opening times would come into effect in January 2016.
