A public town hall event hosted by Scottish Brain Sciences will bring the people of Aberdeen together to talk about Alzheimer’s research, early detection, and how the public can help change the future of brain health.
On Wednesday, 12 June at 7pm, Professor Craig Ritchie - founder and CEO of Scottish Brain Sciences, Professor of Brain Health and Neurodegenerative Disease at the University of St Andrews, and Honorary Professor of Brain Health and Neurodegenerative Disease at the University of Aberdeen - will lead “Changing the Future of Alzheimer’s Together”, a free, community-focused talk at King’s Church, Aberdeen.
The evening will spotlight the latest advances in Alzheimer’s research, highlight opportunities for early detection, and show how members of the local community can actively support the development of new treatments.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required.
As the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s continues to rise, this event comes at a crucial time. SBS is committed to engaging local communities in meaningful conversations about how science is evolving and how every person can help shape the future of brain health - whether by joining a trial, spreading awareness, or learning more about early detection.
The evening will include a 45-minute talk from Prof Ritchie, a short break for refreshments, and a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions and get practical insights.
“We want people to know that there is real hope in Alzheimer’s research right now,” said Prof Craig Ritchie, CEO of SBS. “But we can’t do it alone. We need communities - like the one here in Aberdeen - to be part of the journey. This event is about building trust, sharing knowledge, and making sure everyone understands that they have a role to play in shaping the future of brain health.”
SBS is a leader in brain health and Alzheimer’s research, with local and international partnerships working toward earlier diagnosis and better treatments. This town hall is part of SBS’s wider effort to ensure the public is informed, involved, and inspired.
