The event took place on Friday, January 19 at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel & Spa.

Cat Harvey and Ewen Cameron from Greatest Hits Radio Scotland hosted the annual event which this year raised £70,000 for children’s charity Cash for Kids. This incredible sum means that the lunch – an event highlight on Aberdeen’s social calendar – has now raised an impressive £435,000 over the five lunches that have now taken place. All of the money goes to fund grants that will be used by Cash for Kids to improve the lives of children and young people affected by poverty, neglect, illness or who have additional support needs across the North-east of Scotland.

Cat and Ewen were joined by Northsound 1’s Greig Easton, Lauren Mitchell, and Jeff Diack, as those attending the lunch were treated to a performance from Fred MacAulay. Funds were raised via an auction which included the must have prize of a signed copy of ‘Aye or Naw’ Cat and Ewen’s book version of their popular on air quiz.

Mike Naysmith, Cash for Kids North East Scotland Trustee who has championed the lunch from the outset, said: “It was pleasure to be able to host the fifth Cash for Kids Lunch, which has now cemented its place at the top of the Aberdeen lunch calendar. The buzz in the room all afternoon showed the 400 guests were enjoying themselves and raising a great amount of money to support a fabulous charity.“

Jamie Smith, Cash for Kids North East Scotland Charity Manager said: “Some of the applications for help we receive are truly heart-breaking, and due to the success of this lunch we will be able to support disadvantaged local children. The difference this makes to the children and their families is very overwhelming and they are always very grateful.”
