Local Aberdeen charity, Charlie House, is looking for a number of volunteer elves to help spread festive cheer at this year’s series of Santa’s Workshop events.
Situated within Bon Accord Aberdeen, Santa’s Workshop allows families to visit Father Christmas and receive a present, with all proceeds going directly to Charlie House to help with its mission to support children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Running on consecutive weekends from November 11th until December 24th, volunteers are required to take part in a couple of workshops each to make the magical events possible.
From welcoming families and handing out gifts to assisting with merchandise and photography, this rewarding opportunity is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit, help families make fond memories together, and also raise funds for an important cause.
To prepare for the events, Charlie House has organised an ‘elf training school’, which will bring the volunteers together to meet everyone, receive their assigned responsibilities and ask any questions they may have. Details for the training school will be announced following sign up.
Louise Bone, fundraising coordinator at Charlie House said: “Santa’s Workshop is a key part of the city’s Christmas calendar. It creates such a buzz of excitement within the shopping centre and it often sells out due to high demand.
“With it being such a busy event, we’re looking for as many volunteer elves as possible to help put smiles on families’ faces as they queue up to meet Santa. This really is a fun and enjoyable experience as not only is it ideal for those who love the festive season, but it’s incredibly rewarding to know that it’s supporting a vital local cause.
“I’d encourage all those who love Christmas, are passionate about helping others or want to contribute to their local community, to get in touch with our volunteering team. You’re sure to have a great time and meet others with the same interests too!”
Located in the upper mall of Bon Accord Aberdeen shopping centre, Santa’s Workshop will be open from 9.30am until 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays throughout November and December, with the potential for more dates to be added closer to Christmas Eve.
Tickets for the general public to attend will be launched in early November ahead of the first weekend of workshops, and will be priced at £7.99 per child which includes the present. Photography packages will also be available on the day at an additional cost.
