Local Aberdeen charity, Charlie House, has welcomed Ben Riddell as Business Development Executive to help it achieve its vision of building a dedicated support centre for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.

In his role, Ben's primary focus will be on developing relationships within the business community, connecting companies to the cause and working together in partnership to transform the lives of families in the region.

Ben has more than 20 years’ experience leading and coaching people across a variety of industries, with Charlie House marking his first role in the third sector. Most recently he was self-employed for almost four years as a life, leadership and fitness coach.

Commenting on his appointment, Ben said: “I’ve always been extremely passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and working for Charlie House offers me the privilege of combining this drive with my experience in coaching and networking. I’m very grateful for that.

“As a proud Dad myself, I find some of the things families go through to be heartbreaking, but at the same time, their strength and resilience is so inspirational. I’m really excited about the Big Build Appeal and the opportunity to be involved in something that can make a real difference for these families.”

John Brebner, CEO at Charlie House said: “We’re thrilled to have welcomed Ben to the team. His determination to make a difference is incredibly motivating and we’re looking forward to harnessing his skills and seeing how he can contribute to the success of our Big Build Appeal.”

Charlie House delivers practical and emotional support services as well as accessible activities for families in the North-east. In 2018, it launched the Big Build Appeal to raise vital funds for the project and has raised more than £5m so far which will directly contribute to the facility's development.
