Children’s Hospital and neonatal unit go head-to-head in golf contest

North-east golfers are being invited to tee-off in a Ryder Cup style competition to raise money for local sick babies and children.

Players are encouraged to sign up in aid of either Friends of the Special Nursery (FOTSN), the official charity of the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit, or The ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

The teams will go head-to-head in an 18 hole Texas scramble game at Oldmeldrum Golf Club on Friday 25th May.

Katie Watters, head of fundraising for FOTSN, said: “The Friends of the Special Nursery Vs The ARCHIE Foundation Golf Day is a fun new event which will see our supporters compete for the title of Winning Team.

“As well as being an exciting and enjoyable day out, this friendly competition will play a vital role in supporting babies who are born too sick or too soon and are receiving treatment at the Neonatal Unit.”

Jamie Smith, fundraising manager for The ARCHIE Foundation, said: “The ARCHIE Foundation plays an important role in supporting sick children across the north-east of Scotland, both in hospital and in the community.

“We are excited to be facing Friends of the Special Nursery in this inaugural golf day competition and may the best team win.”

Registration costs £360 for a four ball, which includes soup and sandwiches before tee-off, a two-course hog roast following the round, and a trophy presentation. Prizes will also be offered for Longest Drive, Best Golfer, and Winning Team.
