The vacant Gallowgate pub that previously housed BrewDog's flagship first bar could be brought back to life under new bosses.

The Press and Journal reports that the real estate firm which owns the premises has now applied for an alcohol licence for the empty 17 Gallowgate site, suggesting a reopening could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, as building work continues on the stunning new Flint market, internal fitting out of new food units has begun.

The P&J reveals fresh information and costs of the units, with the £50million market building scheduled for completion next year.

In other city centre news, champagne bar Allegro has confirmed it is due to open its doors on Union Street early next month in around four weeks' time.

That comes as the Quiz fashion store in the St Nicholas Centre has closed its doors for good following the collapse of its parent company.

Meanwhile, the iconic Schoolhouse building on Schoolhill, which is home to lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas, has hit the market for just over half a million pounds.

The P&J reports FG Burnett is marketing the sale as a rare opportunity to acquire a fully-let city centre retail investment.
