Clan Cancer Support has launched a new Christmas appeal for 2025, enabling donors to help the charity be there for local people impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
Clan’s Comfort and Joy Christmas appeal
aims to raise money for its vital cancer support services across the
north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, which cost the charity £2.7million
annually.
Donors can browse an interactive brochure and
choose ‘gifts’ for anyone supported by the charity, with each present
symbolising a different service provided by Clan.
The gifts range from £15 - which could
pay for a physical health and wellbeing session for an adult, to £6,000 - which
could cover all running costs for the charity’s patient accommodation facility
in Aberdeen for one week.
Clan’s charity partner Altrad helped to
officially launch the appeal, pledging a £1,000 donation to cover the amount
needed to run Clan’s Moray patient transport service for four months.
George Akers, regional director HSSEQ
said: “At Altrad, we believe in the power of community and the importance of
compassion, especially during the festive season.
“We’re proud to contribute towards
Clan’s Christmas Appeal, helping to bring comfort, care and a sense of support
to individuals and families affected by cancer across the north-east. It’s a
cause that resonates deeply with our values and we’re honoured to play a part
in making a difference this Christmas.”

Clan Cancer Support is the largest, independent cancer support charity in the north of Scotland and provides emotional and physical support to anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis, including the individual, their family, carers and friends.
The charity provides free professional counselling, complementary therapies, health and wellbeing activities, information and dedicated support for children and families across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
In the last year the charity has supported 2,190 people across its five wellbeing centres and outreach programmes, with its accommodation in Aberdeen hosting 590 guests – a 13 percent increase on the previous year.
The Comfort and Joy appeal is a new venture for Clan and the charity hopes it will be popular with both individuals and companies who are looking to give a charitable gift this festive season.
Fiona Fernie, chief executive at Clan Cancer Support, said: “Altrad’s support is a great example of how businesses can make a meaningful end of year donation to a local charity and we’re incredibly grateful to them.
“As individuals and companies begin to consider their own Christmas preparations, be it Secret Santa presents or gifts for clients, it’s our hope people will consider giving a gift of Comfort and Joy to enable Clan to provide lifeline services to people of all ages who are impacted by a cancer diagnosis.”
In addition to the pre-selected gift packages, donors can opt to make a donation of any amount to suit their budget and can share a specially designed digital postcard to demonstrate their generosity or give in lieu of a Christmas gift.
Organisations can also request to display Comfort and Joy gift tags on their office Christmas trees to help raise awareness of the appeal.
