Clark Integrated Technologies’ MD among key speakers at IT Nation, Florida

Scottish tech firm boss Austen Clark will join Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the world wide web, in addressing a world gathering of technology experts meeting in the USA next month.

Mr Clark, managing director of Clark Integrated Technologies, based near Turriff, in Aberdeenshire, is one of the speakers at IT Nation 2018.

The conference provides a platform for the world’s top technology thought leaders, including Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the engineer and computer scientist credited with creating the web, to address industry leaders and professionals.

Mr Clark will give a UK perspective on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Europe-wide legislation which came into force in May.

GDPR is designed to protect the rights of 750 million people across the EU, strengthening their rights and harmonising data protection law across all member states.

With over 25 years of experience in IT, Mr Clark has detailed knowledge of cyber security and data protection matters, regularly speaking on the subjects at conferences and providing media comment.

Mr Clark said: “Clark IT has worked closely with many businesses, developing security policies to comply with this new EU regulation. We are in the realms of this data protection law and I will give the UK perspective, sharing experiences and shedding a light on what GDPR means for organisations.

“Data protection has been spoken about since the birth of the web, but as the digital economy comes of age there’s a growing realisation around the world that personal data has become more important than ever, not only for organisations, but for individuals – playing fast and loose with people’s data is no longer acceptable.”

IT Nation offers three days of speakers and networking focused on business best practices, thought leadership, and growth for IT professionals from across the world. It takes place in Orlando, Florida, from November 7-9.

Clark IT helped numerous businesses - including those in the charity, food and drink, agricultural, and energy sectors and professional services – to prepare for GDPR, helping them put processes in place and adopt best practice, and monitoring and maintaining their GDPR compliance.

As a managed service provider, Clark IT helps clients achieve success through their IT and communications and has a consistently high customer satisfaction rate of over 90%. Find out more at www.clark-it.com
