Commercial cleaning company launches franchise model and doubles turnover

As it continues to roll out its innovative franchise model, a Scottish commercial cleaning company has announced exceptional results in its second year of trading.

Established in 2016, and operating across Scotland, Tidy Green Clean (TGC) has reported a turnover of £1.4million during the first half of the current financial year – a 100% increase on the same period last year.

Within those results, it has been reported that the company’s first master franchisee, servicing from Aberdeen to Montrose, has increased annual turnover in the area by 275%.

TGC co-founder and managing director, Andrew Alleway, attributes the success to the company’s culture of investment in staff: “The traditional commercial cleaning company is liable to work on an impersonal basis with a high turnover of staff and little contact between the service provider and client.

“TGC has flipped this on its head; a robust strategy of investment in our 100 staff through training and support, an unwavering commitment to the Living Wage and the provision of highest-quality, environmentally friendly products and equipment are all central to our ethos.

“The impact of our 90% staff retention rate cannot be underestimated. This is something almost unheard of in the commercial cleaning and facilities management industry and is succinct illustration of environment we have created for our staff – as well as the consistency of service we offer our clients.”

This attitude has been further cemented by the launch of Tidy Green Clean’s local franchise model. Unique in the UK, it allows staff to transition into business owners. One year after joining on a staff basis, Anita Warpechowska will run her TGC franchise within Aberdeen city centre.

David Moncur, TGC operations director comments: “As a business model, franchising is still in its infancy in the UK. Our management team has had significant success in operating this style of business overseas, and this was the driving factor behind establishment of Tidy Green Clean.

“The results that a franchise ownership provides cannot be underestimated. The franchisee’s control of their own employment, within a supportive franchise model ensures the consistently first-class customer service which has set Tidy Green Clean apart from its competitors. We aim to franchise the entire business over time and in addition to local franchisees, we are looking for suitable master franchisees in the Central Belt at present to look after existing customers and drive new business as we effectively revolutionise the attitude towards the commercial cleaning sector.”

In addition to the company’s commercial cleaning division, Tidy Green Clean’s security and facilities management services have also contributed to the company’s growth.
