A long-term fundraising campaign led by Marius Coste, Group Manager for the North-east of Scotland at Elior at Work, has reached Week 48 of 82 - raising over £11,000 for SAMH and Clan Cancer Support, with £1,800 added last week alone.
The Miles of Smiles campaign has so far logged 2,987km across running, cycling and walking, 232 cold showers, and 52 cold water dips — all undertaken to raise awareness of mental health and cancer support across the Northeast of Scotland.
Last weekend, the campaign was a central beneficiary of the sold-out Alan Soutar Darts Exhibition, where a community of over 50 people gathered to raise funds and open conversations around mental health and cancer care.
Funds raised support two charities making a direct difference in Scotland: SAMH, the national mental health charity, and Clan Cancer Support, which provides emotional and practical support to those affected by cancer across the North of Scotland.
Marius commented: “The driving force has never changed — what if it helps just one person? Week 48 is not a milestone. It is simply the next step.”
With 34 weeks remaining, the campaign continues at pace.
