Miles of Smiles, a Scotland-based community wellbeing and mental health awareness initiative, reports continued progress in Week 49 of its 82-week programme, which coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week.

The initiative has now recorded a total of 3,038 kilometres, completed through walking, cycling, and running activity.

This week included civic and media engagement activity across Aberdeen and Glasgow focused on mental health awareness.

In Aberdeen, Marischal College was illuminated in green in support of Miles of Smiles and Mental Health Awareness Week. A public walk took place with the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron, from Marischal College through Union Street, passing The Nook (SAMH), a local mental health support service.

Media coverage included interviews with Northsound 1, That’s TV Aberdeen, and Original 106 Aberdeen.

In Glasgow, engagement activity included a meeting with the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Cllr Dr Jacqueline McLaren, reflecting cross-city civic participation in mental health awareness activity.

Week 49 summary:
