Construction well underway at first-of-its-kind retirement village

Images captured by drone at the site of a new bespoke retirement village just outside Aberdeen reveal the initial phase of construction is well underway.

Ground work is progressing well at the new Liberty retirement village in Chapelton, five miles South of Aberdeen, the first phase of which is due for completion in early 2019. New drone images show the reduced level dig and foundation installation of the main site which will feature 94 new one and two-bedroom apartments and cottages.

Chapelton will be home to Liberty Retirement Living’s very first retirement village, with many more planned across the UK over the next five years. Liberty Chapelton, which aims to provide a new approach to retirement living, will feature a range of facilities including a brasserie and outdoor space with fire pit and exercise trails, a bespoke programme of activities including photography, Tai Chi and shopping trips and flexible technology enabling residents to easily keep in touch with family and arrange care appointments as and when they need extra support. Residents will also benefit from a concierge service which will include 24-hour reception and staff on site who will organise activities as well as being there to help in an emergency.

The new retirement village will form an integrated community within Chapelton’s first hilltop neighbourhood at Cairnhill. The town already includes more than 100 resident households, with plans to deliver more than 8,000 homes alongside associated amenities over the coming years.

The Duke of Fife, director of Elsick Development Company, said: “It’s really promising to see the new village taking shape. The arrival of Liberty is an important stage in Chapelton’s development and will foster a real sense of community.”

With work now underway, Liberty’s sales suite is now open on site following the appointment of new sales manager, Vivian Bisset, who is on hand to advise residents on individual property plans, pricing and concierge charges as well as Liberty’s hassle-free move service, flexible care options and the professional support services available.

Karl Hallows, director of development and sales at Liberty Retirement Living said: “After years in the planning it’s extremely exciting to see such great progress being made. We’re delighted that plans have been so well received by the Chapelton community and we’re looking forward to seeing residents move into our new retirement village next year.”
