The Dons and Aberdeen City Council are still locked in "constructive" talks over a new beach stadium - despite the March 31 deadline.

It had been hoped that Aberdeen's long-running beach stadium saga have reached a crucial milestone by the end of Q1 with a summary of the headline conditions both parties agreed to.

But while that deadline has not been met, talks are continuing with the project far from dead in the water.

An Aberdeen FC spokeswoman told the Press and Journal: “Constructive discussions are still ongoing but are taking a little longer.”

A club spokeswoman said she was unable to disclose any detail on the nature of the talks.

Dons Chairman Dave Cormack had previously said: “What we said we’d do is aim to agree a heads of terms, or to explore the heads of terms of the art of the possible in quarter one, so by March 31.”
