Ahead of Men’s Mental Health Month in the UK, behavioural risk and wellbeing consultancy IntrospeXion has announced the expansion of its services across the country.

Following its first year in operation, the specialist firm has launched a regional hub in the north-east of England, led by a new senior appointment, to enhance accessibility of its services to its expanding client network.

Founded in the North-east of Scotland in late 2024 by clinical experts with over 15 years' experience in corporate leadership and psychology, IntrospeXion seeks to address the ‘systemic gap between corporate priorities and human wellbeing’ by transforming how high-pressure industries approach workforce wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs).

In its first year, IntrospeXion’s team of wellbeing professionals has delivered several influential services, including crisis management and fatigue workshops on board North Sea operators’ assets, to organisations throughout Scotland. IntrospeXion’s support has helped uncover hidden psychological risks, prevent burnout, and build resilient, high-performing teams.

Now, by establishing a similar presence in England through the regional hub and the appointment of Kelly Allen as Senior Counsellor to lead the new location, workers and organisations across County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear will have direct access to psychologists, in-person counselling options, and compassionate support.

Similar to its presence in Aberdeen, the north-east of England was selected because of its proximity to the offshore energy environment. An industry long plagued by severe concerns and challenges surrounding the mental health and wellbeing of its workforce - with offshore workers reported to be 15x more likely to attempt suicide than onshore workers - IntrospeXion has become a regular collaborator to organisations in the sector by providing services including emergency response, mental health interventions, and culture audits.

IntrospeXion founder and Managing Director Shabnum Hanif commented: “Unlike traditional call-centre-based EAP providers, our model prioritises genuine human connection and care. That’s why opening our new regional hub in England is an important milestone - not just for us as a company but for the local north-east workforce, especially those operating in an offshore environment. Throughout my tenure in director-level roles in the energy sector, I witnessed the impact that high-pressure offshore environments have on people across Scotland and England, with exhausted teams battling burnout, toxic behaviours eroding trust, and the unspoken rise of mental health struggles all too common.

In the last year, following our intervention, reports have highlighted reduced fatigue, a greater openness about mental health, and a shift in company culture to view wellbeing as an operational necessity in creating safe and engaged workforces. While a stigma remains, there has been a clear indication from leaders and individuals of a willingness to learn, develop processes, and do more to help individuals working in demanding and often isolated conditions. Now, with a stronger platform through our north-east England hub and Kelly’s appointment, we are looking forward to providing more support and care to people throughout the UK.”
