A north-east charity that works with children and adults who have multiple support needs has received a technical boost thanks to a leading Aberdeen IT provider.
Converged Communication Solutions is providing Westhill-based charity SensationALL with one year’s worth of free Internet connectivity. The independent firm, which specialises in providing Internet connections, telephone systems and IT support services, chose to assist SensationALL in this way to allow it to direct as much of its other funding as possible to providing its vital services.
In addition to the broadband connectivity package, which has an estimated value of £1,000, Converged has also donated money raised in lieu of sending printed Christmas cards. The donation will go towards buying flexible seating equipment for children with more physical and complex needs, helping pre-schoolers to achieve or maintain a particular position for play and learning.
SensationALL provides support and multi-sensory experiences for children and adults with disabilities and multiple support needs, and their families. The organisation was established in 2012 following the closure of Aberdeen’s Raeden Centre the previous year and also delivers training and education about multiple support needs, which are often the result of neurodevelopmental conditions.
Staffed by an experienced, specialist team, SensationALL offers therapeutic sensory environments that can be used by individuals and groups, and runs a series of activity sessions for adults and children each week. In addition, the charity is upgrading its soft play and sensory room to make this a more accessible, inviting experience for families, carers and groups.
Suz Strachan, operational lead and co-founder of SensationALL, said: “We are very grateful to the support that Converged has provided us with. This type of in kind assistance allows us to focus our funding on delivering the support and services that make a difference to the lives of the individuals and families that we work with.”
Neil Christie, managing director of Converged, said: “SensationALL does incredible work with those that it supports, making a positive difference to their lives. Specialist charities like SensationALL play important roles in our local communities and it is crucial that businesses help them in whatever way they can.
“IT and connectivity are as important to a charity as any business, but when funding and resources are limited and channelled into service delivery, these types of operational items are overlooked. Converged is very proud to support SensationALL in this way, providing IT connectivity and support services that give peace of mind to the charity and a system that allows it to operate more efficiently.”
