Aberdeen City Council has agreed revised catchment area boundaries for Greenbrae School and Glashieburn School, and the relocation of Walker Road School.

The Education and Children’s Services committee approved the revised school catchment areas for Greenbrae School and Glashieburn School following a period of statutory public consultation on the proposals, which would originally have seen alterations to the current boundaries so that an area of land to the west of Dubford Road and the area known as Denmore Park would move from the Greenbrae School catchment area to that of Glashieburn School.

The revised changes will now see the area known as Denmore Park remain within the Greenbrae School catchment area.

The new catchment areas will take effect from 1 August 2023.

A separate consultation sought the public’s views on the relocation to a new purpose-built setting in Tullos Circle of the existing Walker Road School and a corresponding revision of catchment boundaries for Walker Road School and Tullos School.

The consultation feedback has not resulted in any revisions of proposals being required which means that the school will be relocated to the new building at Tullos Circle, with effect from 1 August 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter following completion of the new building.

Committee Convener, Councillor Martin Greig, said: “We have listened to the views of the public and have made decisions based on their feedback. It is good to be at this stage where we can move forward with the plans which put the interests and wellbeing of the young people first.”
